Monsignor Lawrence Donovan (April 16, 1911- 1987) was the founder of St. Joseph's High School and also its first Director (pastor of the church and administrative leader of its schools.) The high school opened on September 15, 1962 and was renamed after Msgr. Donovan in 1983. He served as the pastor until his death in early 1987, and was posthumously inducted into the SJHS/MDHS Hall of Fame. He was the longest-serving director in school history. A plaque in the main hallway of the grade school (on the first floor) is dedicated to him.
