Dr. Edward G. Gere has been the Principal of Donovan Catholic since 1988. He attained an Ed.D. from Seton Hall University. He is the longest-serving principal in school history; the prior principal, Sister Carmella DiMatteo, had served for seventeen years. Two of his children graduated from what was then Mon Don in 2000 and 2002.
He has attended numerous educational conferences, including one at the White House during the 2002-2003 school year. He occasionally appears on Griffin TV and attends some retreats. He has stated that "Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffett is one of his favorite songs, and selected it (along with "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys) to be played on a retreat in 2005.
